It was the Rockstar Games title that introduced us to a brand-new world and underscored the chaos of the Wild West. The game could’ve been another Western adventure, but Rockstar Games went all out and gave us something more. One of the reasons why the original Red Dead Redemption is so beloved is because of its main protagonist, John Marston. The former outlaw who is seeking redemption and a peaceful life makes the narrative quite interesting. Now, the man behind his performance is playing the game for the first time, and players believe he truly embodies the spirit of John Martson. Rob Wiethoff livestreams Red Dead Redemption, and fans are stunned If you’re unaware, Rob Wiethoff is responsible for playing John Marston in Red Dead Redemption. Surprisingly, he’s never played the game before. That’s right, even though Wiethoff has contributed to one of the greatest games of its decade, he still hasn’t experienced it himself. With Red Dead Redemption celebrating its 15th anniversary a few days ago, Wiethoff decided to play the game finally. You’d think that he had a special voice while working on the character, but it seems like that’s just how he likes to talk. Rob Wiethoff gives insight into Red Dead Redemption development This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Well, Wiethoff didn’t just stream Red Dead Redemption. The actor also gave various insights into the development of the title and how the production ended up shaping. One of the first scenes the actor filmed was John Martson’s return to Fort Mercer. His initial recorded line with the former outlaw was “Bill!”. The production team pointed a laser high above to stimulate looking at Bill, and Wiethoff was instructed to focus on it while delivering his dialogue. Interestingly, Steve J. Palmer, who plays Bill Williamson, was probably standing beside him but facing downward. Many Red Dead Redemption fans find it odd that John Marston shouts while riding on horseback alongside others, even if they’re literally next to him. According to the actor, this is due to how the title was initially recorded. The horseback conversations weren’t captured during the performance but in a sound booth. While developing the game, Rockstar Games told the voice actors to deliver their lines loudly, as if they were riding at full speed alongside a freight train during a storm, to ensure voice clarity for all scenarios. Unfortunately, the technology to adjust volume based on distance and conditions wasn’t there. However, in Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar upgraded its tech and recorded both quiet and loud versions to make interactions in the game sound natural.
