I’m Sure Hidetaka Miyazaki Did The Duskbloods After Realizing the Elden Ring Nightreign Experience Is So Awful

It’s official, Elden Ring Nightreign is mid, or at least that’s what players and the ratings on Steam are claiming for now. FromSoftware has officially found itself in a pool of video game genre it shouldn’t really have stepped into, and as always, Hidetaka Miyazaki is seemingly coming to the rescue, something he possibly knew he would need to do from the get-go.

What was supposed to be an enriching experience for all the Elden Ring fans has now become the very game that drains every bit of energy out of its players, especially those who prefer to venture out to Limveld alone. Now that we have established how Nightreign is not precisely what players were expecting, let’s now talk about Miyazaki’s contingency plan.

Hidetaka Miyazaki potentially knew he had to step in the moment he saw Elden Ring Nightreign

Before Elden Ring Nightreign, we all know that in the last dozen years, Dark Souls 2 has been the only Souls title not directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and we all know how well that went. It was back then that the renowned director bailed the studio out, and that is seemingly going to be the case now as well.

The studio’s next title, coming in collaboration with Nintendo for the upcoming Switch 2, will also be multiplayer. However, this time, it will be directed by Mr. Miyazaki himself, which makes me believe it is the right time to get our hopes up once again.

It stands true that even for the president of FromSoftware, the realm of multiplayer is going to be new. Fortunately, his record for trying out new aspects and being successful has been great, as seen in his 2022 title Elden Ring and its amazing open-world level design, which was a first for Miyazaki.

There is no way that anyone can be sure about this fact, but I would like to guess so that after trying out Elden Ring Nightreign, the director possibly knew he would knew to come up with something to help save the studio from drowning if their co-op gamble does not go well.

How Hidetaka Miyazaki’s next project can indirectly push for an Elden Ring Sequel

Let’s dive into a chapter of the past. It’s 2013-14, and Hidetaka Miyazaki is currently working with Sony to bring Bloodborne to reality. In the meantime, FromSoftware pushes for Dark Souls 2, a sequel to Miyazaki’s first Souls game after ******’s Souls. Just this time around, it was directed by two other people, causing everything to go downhill.

It was after this chaotic event that the fan-favorite director came back and redeemed the Dark Souls trilogy by delivering the perfect third installment. Coming back to the present day, the name of Elden Ring, often called as his Magnum Opus, has now been partially ruined with the release of Nightreign as a spin-off, and after being done with his collaborative title with Nintendo — The Duskbloods, he can possibly come back and deliver the perfect end to the franchise just like he did back in the day.

There’s no guarantee that this will happen. Perhaps this is merely what many other fans of FromSoftware are hoping for. The studio is also actively working to fix the Elden Ring Nightreign experience for fans, but whether they will be able to fix it enough before The Duskbloods comes out remains the question.
