What Duck offers quaint, quirky RTS fun, coming soon to mobile

First crabs, and now ducks! It seems that lately it’s quite popular for random animals to jump into the RTS genre, as is aptly demonstrated with What Duck, coming soon to iOS and Android. So, what does this casual RTS duck-based release have to offer? Let’s find out!

For one, it seems that What Duck isn’t lacking at all for things to do. Not only is there a wave-based, multi-lane RTS mode, but there’s also a classic 2D tower defence! Both of these come complete with all manner of strange, quirky-looking duck heroes and units to deploy into the field.

There seems to be two levels of strategy, then, that of creating your own duck-based unit roster and then synergising them with the appropriate hero. You’ll need to gather action points in order to produce the necessary units and place your towers strategically to take out the oncoming enemy forces.

Quirky!

Whatever What Duck may lack in terms of cohesion, it certainly doesn’t in terms of content. With a myriad of different ducks, it’s well worth noting the variety that’s on display. However, while the 2D art may be quite cute, it also pales in comparison to the aforementioned full 3D chaos of King of Crabs.

That is what I believe may be the main thing that could put prospective players off. There’s so much happening on-screen that it seems almost confusing. But it may be that you can look past this and enjoy What Duck for the quirky and over-the-top fun that it is.
