Here’s What Might Be Coming

PlayStation, like Xbox and other console brands, offers an online subscription that allows players to connect and play with others online. However, apart from the online feature, this subscription-based model also delivers new games to members each month, depending on their chosen tier level. The PS Plus is divided into three categories: PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium.

Essential includes online play and a bunch of monthly downloadable titles. Extra adds on to that with access to the Game Catalog, which features a growing collection of modern PS4 and PS5 games. Premium, the highest tier, adds even more content, including the Classics Catalog, time-limited game trials, and cloud streaming options.

Each month, Sony updates the catalogues, giving subscribers something new to play regardless of their plan. The Essential is the most common subscription model due to its affordable price and widely promoted monthly drops. However, if you are someone who regularly plays a lot of games, then the Extra and Premium tiers would be a better option as they include surprise additions, hidden gems, and classics from earlier PlayStation generations.

Now, as we enter June 2025, let’s take a look at the games expected to be added to the PlayStation Plus subscription.

NBA 2K25

The NBA 2K franchise remains one of the most anticipated annual releases in sports gaming, and the latest installment, NBA 2K25, continues that legacy. The game is set to release on both the PS5 and the previous-generation PS4. This year, as in all years, is filled with minor improvements in visuals, quality, gameplay, and game modes.

The latest game includes several key updates. Player animations are further improved to create a more realistic motion and in-game physics, especially on PS5, where the game benefits from the extra power of the PS5 and the improved haptics on the new DualSense controllers. The MyCareer mode now includes expanded story branches, allowing for more control over your player’s come-up through the league.

While the core gameplay will remain the same between both consoles, the PS5 version includes graphical upgrades, faster performance, and exclusive features, such as ProPlay motion capture technology, which brings real-life NBA player movement directly into the game engine.

The game is expected to join PlayStation Plus on June 3.

Alone in the Dark

The 2024 version of Alone in the Dark revives the classic survival horror series, drawing inspiration from the 1992 original game. Developed by Pieces Interactive and published by THQ Nordic, this reboot alters the narrative but retains the dark atmosphere and creepy vibe. The game is set in 1920s Louisiana, and players can choose to experience the story through the eyes of either private investigator Edward Carnby (voiced by David Harbour) or Emily Hartwood (voiced by Jodie Comer).

Each character sees the mystery at Derceto Manor in a different way. The manor is a dark and spooky asylum with strange, supernatural elements inspired by the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. It’s a third-person game, and the gameplay includes exploration and puzzle-solving. Post-launch updates have introduced features like New Game Plus, a Photo Mode, and an alternative introduction, adding to the replay value. Unlike NBA 2K25, this one will only release for PS5 users.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a vibe more than a game. If you remember the game Jet Set Radio, then you will find a lot of similarities between the art styles. Cyberfunk is considered a successor of Jet Set Radio. The game takes you into the vibrant and futuristic city of New Amsterdam, throwing you into the middle of a turf war fought through skating, dancing, and graffiti tagging.

As you explore the city, you are given multiple options to hit some insane freestyle stunts; the controls feel fluid, and the soundtrack is just perfect, taking the game to a whole new level. The creative freedom to explore the map keeps the players hooked. It plays well on both PS4 and PS5, but the PS5 version has better graphics and runs more smoothly.

Another Crab’s Treasure

Another Crab’s Treasure is one of the more unexpected additions to June’s PS Plus Extra and Deluxe lineup. Sadly, this one won’t be included in your basic membership. Below the bright and colorful world lies a Soulslike game, with challenging combat and complex mechanics.

You play as Kril, a hermit crab on a mission to get his stolen shell back in a dangerous underwater world filled with trash. Instead of normal armor, you use things like soda cans and forks to protect yourself. The game has a fun tone, complex designs, and challenging fights that require good timing and careful moves.

Despite the game not requiring high hardware requirements, Another Crab’s Treasure is only available on PS5.

Skull and Bones

If you are someone who was a huge fan of Assassin’s Creed: ****** Flag, then Skull and Bones might be right up your alley. This intense naval combat game is finally arriving for those who have a PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe subscription. Although it had a rocky launch in 2024, the in-game update ultimately improved it. The game delivers a solid experience for players who love customizing ships and battling on the open sea.

The game is a co-op pirate open-world action RPG co-developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft, and it will only be available on the newer consoles, not the PS4. Its biggest selling point is the naval combat, where you can team up with friends or face off against other players in intense battles on the high seas, and the dynamic weather just takes it to a whole different level. All those who have played the game agree that it can be a little grind-heavy at first, but eventually it’s a rewarding experience.

Destiny 2: Legacy Collection

One of the most popular online shooters, Destiny 2: Legacy Collection, is set to release on both PS5 and PS4, available with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe subscriptions. This collection includes the base game, plus key expansions, giving players access to a vast universe full of fast-paced combat and cooperative missions.

You can take part in various combat modes, be it teaming up with friends to tackle challenging raids or competing in PvP. The game provides a fun and immersive experience. Both consoles run the game smoothly, but PS5 players enjoy faster load times and improved visuals, which come with enhanced storage and graphical capabilities.

The game has been dominating the PC gaming scene for a long time, and now that it’s expanding to a PS Plus subscription, it’s only going to add to the game’s popularity.

Myst

Myst is a legendary puzzle-solving game that came out in the 90s and is now available on both PS4 and PS5 through the Classics Catalog—exclusive to PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe members. This updated version still carries the same essence as the original’s mysterious tone while offering modern improvements such as enhanced visuals, updated controls, and smoother performance on newer consoles.

You’re dropped onto a strange, deserted island with no guidance, with a series of interactive puzzles to solve. What makes it truly challenging is that, unlike other games, this one won’t hold your hand and help you progress. It really kicks your exploration and observation side and tests your patience a lot.

If you are someone who used to play it back in the day or are coming across it for the first time, the game won’t disappoint you.
