All property owners and occupiers are required to maintain fire prevention measures through to December 31, including clearing fire breaks and reducing vegetation that could pose a risk during high temperatures and dry conditions. Failure to comply could result in fines of up to $5000, or an on-the-spot penalty of $250. The shire may also charge landowners the cost of any work it carries out on non-compliant properties. Authorised shire officers have the right to enter properties and use machinery or personnel to complete fire safety work if necessary. Residents are being reminded that early action not only avoids penalties but plays a vital role in protecting lives, homes, and the environment from bushfire threats. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the shire rangers on (08) 9191 0999 or email *****@*****.tld.
