The 37-year-old singer is currently pregnant with her third child, and has two sons already with rapper A$AP Rocky.

Ronald Fenty was battling an illness, as reported by TMZ.

Rihanna’s brother, Rajad Fenty, was seen arriving last Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

Rihanna was with him and also visited her father, but was not seen in the vehicle that arrived at the hospital, TMZ reported.

So far, the singer has not spoken out about her father’s death.

Their relationship, however, was turbulent for a few years, according to People Magazine.

This is because, after she was attacked by Chris Brown in 2009, Ronald Fenty allegedly spoke to the press without the artist’s consent.

10 years later, in 2019, Rihanna sued him — and his partner Moses Perkins — for exploiting her name to obtain financial resources.

The pair launched Fenty Entertainment, a production and talent company, in 2017.

Rihanna’s popular Fenty Beauty line of cosmetics also launched in 2017. She has a lingerie product line as well.

“Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf, nor has he ever been authorised to use her name, intellectual property or publicity rights,” the suit said.

“Similarly, neither Mr. Perkins nor the Company has any affiliation whatsoever with Rihanna.”

The pair unsuccessfully attempted to register the Fenty name for a line of resort hotels, according to the suit.

Rihanna also alleged that Fenty and Perkins negotiated an unauthorised deal for her to perform 15 shows in Latin America for $15 million, and two 15-minute sets at Calibash at Staples Centre and T-Mobile Arena for $400,000.

Before the case was tried, she filed a request to dismiss the case in 2021.

In a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna talked about her complicated relationship with her father, who, she said, had a tumultuous marriage with her mother.

“He taught me everything,” Rihanna told Winfrey. “As awful as he was to my mum at times, it didn’t compare to how great he was as a father.”
