The all-inclusive resorts and beaches draw a lot of people to the locale. However, if you’re going to be traveling to Jamaica, it’s worth checking out the U.S. Department of State’s This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up on the country. The State Department frequently reviews and even revises its travel advisories, and the agency did so for Jamaica on May 29, 2025. Jamaica is listed as “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution” by the Department of States. However, that’s down from a Level 3 advisory just 10 days before. That advisory had urged people to reconsider traveling to the popular Caribbean nation. Although lower in severity, the new alert does warn travelers of possible issues in Jamaica. “Some areas have increased risk. Consider crime and limited medical services. Read the entire Travel Advisory,” the State Department wrote. “While violent crime in Jamaica has decreased since 2024, it remains statistically high throughout the country. Tourist areas generally see lower rates of violent crime than other parts of the country,” the advisory says. “The ********* rate reported by the Government of Jamaica is among the highest in the Western Hemisphere. Armed robberies and ******* assaults are common. U.S. embassy employees are prohibited from using public buses and from driving between cities at night,” it continues. “The U.S. Embassy routinely receives reports of ******* assaults, including from U.S. citizen tourists at resorts. U.S. citizens report slow or unsatisfactory response to serious criminal incidents. When arrests are made, cases are infrequently prosecuted to a final verdict and sentence,” the advisory continues. There are also issues with medical care. “U.S. citizens should not expect the same level of health care available in Jamaica as is available in the United States. This includes slower emergency service response times and less availability of care for illness or injury,” the State Department says. “Private hospitals require payment up front before admitting patients and may not have the ability to provide specialized care. Ambulance services are not always staffed with EMTs and are not always readily available, especially in rural areas. U.S. citizens should bring extra prescription medication as common medications, such as insulin, can be difficult to obtain.” This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up first appeared on Men’s Journal on May 30, 2025 This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up #U.S #Announces #Travel #Warning #Major #Beach #Destination This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up For verified travel tips and real support, visit: https://hopzone.eu/ 0 Quote Link to comment https://hopzone.eu/forums/topic/265358-us-announces-new-travel-%E2%80%98warning%E2%80%99-for-major-beach-destination/ Share on other sites
