Trailer, Gameplay, Price, Backward Compatibility, and More

F1 has been one of the longest-running and prestigious motorsport championships. In 2025, it marks its 75-year anniversary, beginning as basic open-wheel racing, which has evolved into one of the world’s largest and most prominent sporting events over the years. The cars have improved, drivers have continued to evolve, and the fan base has grown. From high-speed duels on legendary tracks to the intense strategy battles from the pit wall, F1 today is not just about driving skills; it’s a mix of technology and athleticism.

With its rise in popularity, it was natural for fans to want more than just watching races—they wanted to experience it and feel the same thrill the racers go through. While most of us are not capable of driving an F1 car, game developers have made it possible for fans to experience the thrill of driving one. While several developers dabbled in the genre, it was EA Sports in 2000 that truly captured the magic.

Since the 2000s, EA has been consistently dropping F1 games each year, improving the realism, game mechanics, and different game modes. Keeping with the same tradition, this year we turn our attention to F1 25, the latest installment that promises to deliver yet another leap forward for racing fanatics.

Things changed a lot when this season started—Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time World Champion, was not with Mercedes AMG anymore. He opted for the prancing horse. Carlos Sainz, who was killing it with Ferrari, moved to Williams, and we got a whole new bunch of rookies. Compared to the previous season, there are numerous changes to the grid, and the developers have rightfully implemented these in the game.

premiered on March 26, 2025, offering fans a glimpse into the latest installment of the franchise. The trailer begins with Lewis Hamilton, now in his new red Ferrari, powering up his console to race as himself, which seems to highlight his move to Ferrari. The visuals of the game are well-suited to David Croft’s voice, who remains the game’s lead commentator.

While the trailer showcases new team rosters and car designs, many fans have noticed that the graphics appear very similar to those of last year’s game. However, F1 25 still brings some exciting updates. These include more accurate tracks, enhanced podium celebrations, and the return of the popular story mode. Interestingly, the game also features content inspired by the new F1 movie, allowing players to engage in scenarios based on the film.

Overall, the trailer provides a good preview of what to expect in F1 25, combining real-life changes from the sport with fun and engaging gameplay to create an enjoyable racing experience.

F1 25 gameplay

The game was recently released on the latest generation consoles and PC. And despite being quite fresh, one of the most notable things is how much better it has improved over its predecessor. F1 24 was heavily criticized for its unpredictable handling and overly sensitive controls, especially on controllers. Players often complained that even the smallest steering input could throw the car off balance, making races frustrating.

However, F1 25 appears to have addressed that issue. The controls now feel much smoother, more responsive, and predictable. Before the controls went wonky with the F1 24 game, F1 23 was preferred by many, known for its stable and confident handling. If you are someone who plays with a controller, the difference is night and day. F1 25 brings back better controls like 23—the input feels natural, you are no longer fighting the car to keep it on track, and it’s the type of gameplay that will keep making you do multiple rounds.

F1 25 arrives with two editions to choose from, giving fans the option to pick the experience that suits them best. There’s the Standard Edition, which includes the full base game, and the Iconic Edition, which offers a collection of exclusive extras for dedicated players.

It doesn’t matter if you are a casual F1 fan who is just here for some casual, who came for the base game, or a fanatic who wants the complete collection—the game gives everything, but at a price. Since the game is out on all the latest generation consoles and PC, it’s available on multiple platforms. The official EA app, Steam, Xbox Store, and PlayStation Store.

The Standard Edition gives players full access to the base game and is priced at:

  • $59.99 on PC (Steam)
  • $69.99 on PlayStation 5
  • $69.99 on Xbox Series X/S

The Iconic provides additional in-game content for gamers or those seeking to enhance their gaming experience. It’s priced at:

  • $79.99 on PC (Steam)
  • $89.99 on PlayStation 5
  • $89.99 on Xbox Series X/S

While the Standard Edition just includes the base game, the Iconic Pack includes:

  • Lewis Hamilton Iconic Pack
  • APXGP Team Pack
  • F3 Driver Icons
  • F1 World Bumper Pack
  • 18,000 PitCoin (the in-game currency)

The extras will give the player a head start on the online world, with legendary drivers and teams. Even the additional team, adapted from the Brad Pitt-starring F1 movie, is included in the pack (which we will discuss soon). Even the additional PitCoins can be used to purchase cosmetic upgrades, XP boost multiplayer, VIP passes in the F1 game, and many more products from its store.

Yes, the F1 25 game supports players from different platforms, including Xbox X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, allowing them to race against each other. However, if you are on the older generation of consoles, such as the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4, it’s bad news for you. The game is not coming to these consoles.

F1 25 brings back Braking Point and an additional fictional F1 team

Back in 2021, F1 tried something that stuck with the fans. They tried a new cinematic storyline in F1 21, following the racing legacy of two fictional characters—Aiden Jackson and Devon Butler. The game introduces a new level of immersion, enabling drivers to experience life in the fast-paced world of F1 and the pressure that accompanies it. From rivalries, politics, and other struggles, the game did it beautifully, and it was received with a lot of high praise.

The game returned with Braking Point in F1 23, skipping the year before. The same pattern is continued with F1 25, bringing back the cinematic storyline. Braking Point 3 continues with the stories of drivers Aiden Jackson and Devon Butler. Another new mode being added to the game, not available in any previous version, is the fictional team APXGP.

This brand-new mode is added to the game, inspired by the new Apple TV movie F1. The game also features the same characters from the movie—Sonny Hayes and Joshua Pearce, characters played by Brad Pitt and Damson Idris for the APXGP team.

The F1 movie is set to release on June 25 internationally and on June 27 in Canada and the U.S. This means Iconic Edition fans will get an early taste of the movie with exclusive access to content.

F1 25 is now available for purchase on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
