Mage Towers are important landmarks on the map of Elden Ring Nightreign, however, they have a “do not enter” seal that locks players from entering. Don’t worry, like all locks in the world, it can be broken too. But for that, you need to find the seal that locks them in the first place, which is the hard part.

Mage Towers in Elden Ring Nightreign can be unlocked by finding and destroying the “Mage Runes.” These can be found near the Mage Towers you’re visiting, and they won’t be in the same spot as always. Thus, making it hard to find these seals in the first place.

However, there are moments when the Mage Runes will show up right above the main doorway of the Mage Towers. This is probably the easiest to find and doesn’t require much exploring. However, other times the area has to be explored thoroughly. To save you some time, here are some of the common places you can find them.

If you run along the walls of the tower, you might find a patch of breakable brick. Use a weapon to destroy them, then proceed to destroy the rune. Sometimes, you may find a static rune in the pond attached to the tower. Not all towers have ponds, but you see one, take a quick walk above the seal to unlock the door.

Mage Runes can be found hidden among trees that are present outside the tower. If you find any tree that looks out of place, like being dead, or moving a little differently, then that means a seal is there. The same story applies to bushes, too, so run through them to destroy the seals.

If there aren’t any of these features outside of the Mage Towers, then you can just step inside. However, you might need to solve puzzles when inside. For instance, you might find an extinguished candlestick or a statue that is not present where it should be. Attack these suspicious objects with a melee weapon to activate them and reveal the hidden seal. After breaking the seal, proceed to climb the tower and reap the rewards by opening the sealed door.

Where are Mage Towers in Elden Ring Nightreign, and what do you get from them?

While exploring Limveld, you’ll come across various locations like ruins, mines, and even Mage Towers. However, some of the locations will change with each run, or maybe all of them at times.

The best way to locate Mage Towers is by using the in-game map, as it marks points of interest spread across the map. Mage Towers are marked with a regular tower symbol, with a faint greenish-brown color. Since there are no enemies, you can take on these towers alone.

Mage Towers contain magic items like staves or incantations, which will aid your run in Elden Ring Nightreign as an Int/Faith user. Sometimes these pieces of gear can have different passive abilities that make sorcery more powerful. If you prefer to go for a better mage build, then you’ll have to visit them with each run.
