Police officers have remained in St Patrick’s Way since the fatal fire

A 15-year-old girl and a 67-year-old woman have died in a house fire.

Fire crews and police were called to the blaze in Bletchley, near Milton Keynes, at about 12:10 BST on Friday.

Both died at the scene and an investigation was under way to establish the cause of the fire, Thames Valley Police said. The house remained sealed off on Saturday.

A next-door neighbour described hearing “loud screams” and how another of his neighbours shouted for someone to “break the door”.

The man, who only gave his name as Gabriel, told the BBC he was at home with his children at the time.

Fire crews turned up at St Patrick’s Way about five minutes after he dialled 999, Gabriel said.

“Earlier when it happened, I really wasn’t myself. I was very, very, shocked,” he said.

He described what he says he saw as “unimaginable” and “tragic”.

Floral tributes have been laid outside the house

Gabriel said the family affected was “easy-going, calm and lovely”.

Thames Valley Police said the flames were quickly brought under control and said the deaths were currently being “considered unexplained”.

A spokesperson said the victims’ next of kin were being supported, adding: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims of this tragic fire.”
