However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by MindsEye, which people are seemingly calling a copy of Cyberpunk mixed with GTA. However, people are missing a point here, as it is more than that. MindsEye is a spinoff of Everywhere, which was meant to be an MMO metaverse where players can create anything they wish. A bit similar to the idea of Roblox, which is meant to stay on a grand scale. Build A Rocket Boy hasn’t really given up on the idea of Everywhere, as they wish to provide it through MindsEye. MindsEye wants to remove the gatekeeping part of the gaming industry Developers usually gatekeep their products and usually don’t allow players to add their own creativity into the mix. Not that I’m calling it selfish, but some developers are extra protective of their titles. For instance, Rockstar shut down many mods and remake projects from modders for their benefit. A prime example here would be the ban of the Liberty City Preservation Project, which aimed to create GTA 4 inside of GTA 5. It’s not like modders would take any profit from it; all it wanted was to give it a new-gen touch. However, Rockstar shut down that project. Why? It is rumors that Rockstar is working on a remastered version of GTA 4 themselves. Honey, I shrunk the cars?! Instead, they want to encourage players to share their creations by using their own world creation tool. This will allow players to build new worlds and games that weren’t originally thought of. Don’t get things wrong, it’s not like every developer doesn’t promotes players to create mods. However, MindsEye developers encouraging people to make their own creations with their world-building tools, takes it up a notch. Usually, AAA developers don’t give that level of freedom, which is commendable. However, it’s not like players are benefitting from it; rather, it’s a symbiotic relationship. If the developers like certain ideas of players, they’ll try to incorporate them into their games. After all, it’s not always the devs who are meant to create the best experiences; sometimes, a third-party point of view can do wonders. I remember something similar was done with Far Cry 4, which allowed players to create their own arena. What MindsEye is doing might look similar, but it’s on steroids. Wish more developers would do the same in the future, instead of smashing modders down with a lawsuit hammer. So, some huge hopes are lying behind MindsEye for that particular reason. In my opinion, gaming in 2025 can be summed up with ex-employees of top dogs entering the competition. And Leslie Benzies is probably aiming for the same as well. It has been promised by Leslie Benzies that MindsEye will be getting continuous content. From adding some mini-races to incorporating community ideas, Build A Rocket Boy has some big plans. While reading through an This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up of Benzies with Games Industry.biz, this quote particularly stood out. [The studio] will support the game through Play.MindsEye, with continuous new content. Some of the content, like races, are made just for fun. But [with] most of the content, we’ll try and incorporate it into the story. So once you’ve played the big overarching ten-year plan, you’ll have a very good idea of what this universe looks like. It is apparent that MindsEye creators are going for a long game instead of releasing sequels one after another. Moreover, letting the community add in their flair is an interesting approach as well. We’ve all seen the success of Fortnite and Roblox with that idea, maybe the same will happen with Build A Rocket Boy as well. But again, let’s not get too optimistic about it. Do you think Build A Rocket Boy will be able to put up a competition against Rocktar? What are your thoughts regarding their approach with MindsEye? Share your opinion in the comments below!
