Manor Lords Developer Slavic’s ‘Helpful’ Tutorial Proves He Might Actually Be Human

Although Steam’s latest indie hit, Manor Lords, is in Early Access, there’s much to love about the city-builder game. For starters, the title was created by solo developer Greg Styczen, who founded Slavic. Considering how it was created by a single human being, the kind of success that Manor Lords is reaching on Valve’s platform feels even more impressive, but naturally, there are some errors that players have to face while playing it.

At least Manor Lords‘ creator has a sense of humor about a certain tutorial screen that makes the title much smoother.

Despite being developed by a one-man studio, Manor Lords is an amazing gaming experience.

Perhaps one of the greatest aspects of the surprise indie hits from this year is how interactive their developers are with their communities on social media, and the studio behind Manor Lords is keeping the trend going.

in hopes of getting their feedback on his latest effort, and he’s aware that since the title hasn’t been completely launched yet, there are bound to be some missed elements in it. Tutorial screens are usually hit or miss in games, but the developer has pointed out one in Manor Lords that shows that human mistakes are inevitable, even if the game’s been in careful development for seven years.

Accompanied by a screenshot of a tutorial screen in Manor Lords, the programmer sarcastically called it “very helpful,” stating that players might come across it, and before they complained about it, Greg Styczen took it upon himself to address it. The image shows an incomplete tutorial screen that has placeholder text on it, giving some insight into the mindset of the developer while he was creating the game.

Titled “Title” and having a description that repeats the word “blah” in its various forms, it’s refreshing to see the Manor Lords developer poking fun at his own work and laughing about it with the community, joking that its inclusion was “completely intentional.”

In just one week since it was released in Early Access, Slavic Magic’s game has managed to bring together a strong community.

The Slavic Magic founder does not just stop at his original post and actually replies to the community’s comments as well.

One player joked about how they understood what the Manor Lords tutorial screen was trying to teach, leading Greg Styczen to keep the humor going.

Another gamer noted how they have witnessed much worse tutorial screens than the unfinished one in Slavic’s game.
