From the early previews alone, it’s clear: Nightreign is not playing around when it comes to co-op. This isn’t just a Soulslike with multiplayer slapped on, it’s a game that practically dares you to go it alone.

Bosses don’t just hit hard; they dominate the entire arena with massive AoE attacks, unpredictable movement patterns, and punishing mechanics designed to break uncoordinated teams. Some bosses even blind the player holding aggro, forcing the rest of the squad to step up or die trying.

The combat is built around synergy. One player draws aggro, another goes for damage, and someone else looks for openings. There’s very little room for the slow, methodical one-on-one fights that Souls veterans are used to.

Instead, Nightreign leans into chaos, pushing players to communicate, react, and adapt on the fly. Sure, there are boss patterns, but learning them wouldn’t help you if your teammate doesn’t know them as well.

Sure, some legends will eventually solo these monsters. But it’s clear FromSoftware didn’t design this world with lone wolves in mind. They want you to bleed, and they want you to bleed together.
