Garden spectacular a sold-out success story for Margaret River green thumbs

A little rain didn’t stop nearly 800 gardening enthusiasts from attending the sold-out Edible Gardens Festival at the weekend.

Six productive gardens across the Margaret River region opened their gates to the public, with gardeners sharing tips on growing fruit and vegetables, composting, saving water, and boosting soil health.

A new festival bus service helped reduce car use, aligning with the event’s sustainability focus.

About 150 people also attended afternoon workshops each day, led by local teachers and gardening experts.

Visitors came from across the South West and Perth, cementing the festival’s status as a grassroots community event and a growing tourism drawcard.

“The feedback has been incredible and I’m so stoked the community braved the grey skies to come out and support the event,” organiser and permaculture teacher Trevor Paddenburg said.

“I loved seeing how many amazing community connections were forged.”

He thanked the gardeners, volunteers and local supporters who helped make the festival a reality.

“We’ll be back next year with all new gardens and even more inspiration,” he said.
