NY Thruway closed near Rochester due to police investigation

A stretch of the New York State Thruway near Rochester is closed Thursday morning in both directions due to a police investigation, according to New York State Police.

An 11.5-mile section of Interstate 90 between Exit 45 in Victor and Exit 46 in Henrietta has been shut down since early Thursday. Authorities responded around 1:40 a.m. to reports of a “barricaded subject in a vehicle with a firearm” near mile marker 357.1 in Pittsford.

The subject has been taken into custody, and no injuries were reported. Traffic is being diverted from the highway, but it is expected to reopen this morning.
