Fernie lands two more winners at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club

Three hoops accounted for six of the seven winners and Peter Fernie’s double allowed him to surge further ahead for trainer of the year at last Sunday’s Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club meeting.

Following Chris Nicoll’s success aboard the Paul Tapper-trained Classic Code ($26) in the opening race, the remainder of the card was dominated by Troy Turner, Victoria Corver and Lucy Fiore — each with riding doubles.

Turner saluted in back-to-back races with Magic Will Reign ($9) and I Never Dreamed ($4.40), for trainers Trevor Tasker and Gary Bowen, respectively.

Corver’s big day began in race two on the Ryan Hill-trained Quick Cookie ($12), and she followed-up in race seven with Floba ($5.50) for Brett Drury.

Both of Fiore’s winners were for Fernie — Close At Hand ($1.50 favourite) in the third and three races later with Karnup Queen ($1.35 favourite).

Action at the KBRC continues this Sunday.
