Greenwood Kingsley Super Deli: Teen who allegedly brandished sword at worker while on bail faces 41 charges

A teenage boy charged over a terrifying armed hold-up at a Greenwood deli was already on bail accused of home burglary and possessing edged weapons.

It is understood the 14-year-old boy, who allegedly brandished a sword at an innocent shopworker inside the Greenwood Kingsley Super Deli on Cockman Road about 7.45pm on Friday, is facing a total of 41 charges.

The boy was already facing multiple counts of aggravated home burglary, carrying an edged weapon, stealing and trespass before he allegedly robbed the deli. He has pleaded not guilty to some of the offences.

The details of his previous alleged offending were not heard in the Perth Children’s Court on Tuesday.

A neurodevelopmental report was ordered ahead of his next appearance on July 8.

No application for bail was made and he will remain behind bars until then.

Another alleged teen accomplice has also been charged with aggravated armed robbery over the Greenwood incident.

CCTV shows one of the males holding up the blade — almost half the size of his body — centimetres from the terrified staff member, who was standing behind the till making a coffee.

His alleged accomplice was waiting outside on their getaway vehicle — an e-scooter.

They both allegedly fled with the cash before they were arrested by police at a home less then 2km away.

The second boy charged — who is about to turn 15 — was described as a child who did not have a troubled past.

He is facing an aggravated armed robbery charge. He also did not apply for bail on Tuesday. He will next appear in court on June 10.

After the incident, shop owner Billy Tran said his colleague handed over “all the cash” available to her as she stood centimetres away from the blade.

“She of course was nervous, very nervous, I feel sorry for her,” he said.
