Electronic Arts было очень специфическое представление о фанатах RPG — руководители издательства считали, что за них не нужно бороться, так как они в любом случае купят новую игру BioWare. В результате от студии постоянно требовали ориентироваться на более широкую аудиторию, отказываясь от классических механик и делая ставку на экшен и зрелищность. Об этом рассказал ветеран Dragon Age Дэвид Гейдер, покинувший BioWare в 2016 году.
