Once Human: RaidZone is Starry Studio’s latest experiment in bringing a new style of survival to its hit game. Introduced in the 1.6.1 update and launched in Early Access on May 22, 2025, RaidZone strips away the cooperative PvE comforts of the game to put us into a hardcore PvP survival environment.

But what exactly is RaidZone, and how does it reshape Once Human’s PvP mechanics? This new gamemode will have unique progression rules and new systems that will change everything you know about the game. It’s survival of the fittest now. Once Human: RaidZone Overview and Core Gameplay Features

Once Human: RaidZone is a standalone spinoff of the game that takes the game’s PvP mechanics into a full-scale survival mode. Set in a lawless open world, RaidZone’s primary focus is ruthless player-versus-player combat, with the survival part of the game still intact. So you still have resource gathering, crafting, and base building.

Unlike the main game, though, RaidZone introduces us to the Law of the Jungle system, where every other player, aside from your squadmates, is fair game for attacks and plundering. In RaidZone, you begin from scratch with no access to equipment, blueprints, or mods from other game modes.

As is the norm with these kinds of modes, survival depends on your ability to scavenge and construct defenses while constantly fending off enemy raids. Death is punishing. Whenever you die, you drop most of the gear in your inventory.

There’s no vehicle ownership either; any player can operate abandoned or field-repaired vehicles. The loot economy also follows strict respawn timers: 20 minutes for low-tier containers, 1 hour for mid-tier, and 6 hours for high-tier rewards. This means that you’ll have to compete for every scrap.

The combat in RaidZone is also affected by your personal Deviation companion. Ursula becomes stronger as you gather more Realm Fragments and can eventually summon the Manibus, an area-of-effect attack that deals massive damage.

How RaidZone Changes the Once Human PvP Experience

While PvP was always an aspect of Once Human, RaidZone makes it an even ******* part of the game. Gone are shared PvE goals, safe zones, or the exploration missions you’re familiar with. Every player, structure, and piece of loot is fair game. So don’t trust anyone and treat survival above everything else.

One big thing that you need to know is that nothing carries over from the main game. You won’t have your equipment, blueprints, Deviations, or mods. You will have to unlock everything again in RaidZone. And of course, your progress in RaidZone doesn’t carry over to other game modes. This makes it so that everyone has an equal chance.

In essence, RaidZone functions as Once Human’s own version of the hardcore PvP modes we see in games like Rust or Escape from Tarkov, but with its own spin on it. RaidZone’s official launch is scheduled for July 2025, with the ongoing Early Access to fix any broken mechanics and imbalanced numbers.

Starry Studio has noted that the version released on May 22 is near-final, and it has already gone through extensive internal testing. So we can expect it to be at its peak form when it finally comes out.
