The ‘Delta Force’ Campaign Is Inspired by This $173 Million Ridley Scott Movie

Team *****’s revival of Delta Force has been nothing short of extraordinary as it has made its triumphant return this year, introducing a new generation of gamers to the iconic series. Built entirely on Unreal Engine 5, both the multiplayer and the campaign are free-to-play with optional microtransactions.

The emotionally charged ****** Hawk Down campaign is directly inspired by the titular Academy Award-nominated movie directed by the legendary Ridley Scott. And more than two decades later, the Battle of Mogadishu has been brought to life in an interactive form by Team ***** through Delta Force.

Delta Force’s campaign is inspired by Ridley Scott’s ****** Hawk Down (2001)

The Delta Force ****** Hawk Down campaign is inspired by Ridley Scott’s 2001 cinematic depiction of the Battle of Mogadishu, ****** Hawk Down. The movie follows a crew of U.S. soldiers going into Somalia to bring aid and food to the people there.

But two of the helicopters that were being used to lower the soldiers onto the ground were shot down by Somali forces out of the blue, and the mission quickly turned into a prolonged battle of life and death, hence the name ****** Hawk Down. Mark Bowden’s 1999 book, ****** Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War, served as an inspiration for the acclaimed movie.

It cost Ridley Scott $173 million to make the movie, and when you look at the movie’s ensemble, featuring A-listers like Tom Hardy, Ewan McGregor, Jason Isaacs, Josh Hartnett, and more, it entirely makes sense. Delta Force’s ****** Hawk Down campaign takes massive inspiration from the movie, and it puts you into the shoes of an elite Delta Force operator partaking in the 1993 military operation.

Additionally, the game also uses some of Scott’s footage, but the campaign isn’t a shot-by-shot remake of the 2001 movie, and it’s more of a faithful reboot or retelling of the movie and the original 2003 title, Delta Force: ****** Hawk Down. While the movie brilliantly stands on its own, the 2025 campaign just adds an extra layer of immersion like never before.

The Unreal Engine 5 depiction of the harrowing operation is expertly crafted, and it’s also not an easy campaign to get through, further adding a hint of realism to it. After 24 years, the harrowing operation told brilliantly by Ridley Scott through ****** Hawk Down is brought back in all its brutal nature, thanks to Team *****.

Not watching the movie is grounds for treason if you’re a fan of Delta Force, so give it a watch and experience the Battle of Mogadishu through a cinematic lens before you get to step into the skirmish yourself in the ****** Hawk Down campaign.
