BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) — A traffic stop in Chattanooga Friday resulted in the arrests of three suspects in Middle Tennessee burglaries, authorities said.

, detectives noticed last week that a burglary in the Witherspoon subdivision was consistent with other recent burglaries in Brentwood and Nashville. A joint investigation with the Metro Nashville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies led to the identification of suspects associated with the incidents.

Officials said a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle in Chattanooga on Friday, May 23. Three men inside the vehicle allegedly provided false Peruvian identification to the trooper.

A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of burglary tools and clothing consistent with a Brentwood burglary and recent burglary attempts in Brentwood and Nashville, as well as suspected stolen jewelry. Additionally, authorities said the men were in possession of Rolex watches that were stolen from a Missouri home.

Law enforcement identified the men as Genaro Arturo Arenas Jara, Nicholas Maximiliano Martinez Hidalgo, and Valentino Amaro Bouffanais — all of Chile. Police said all three men are wanted for crimes related to 2023 residential burglaries in California.

The men were arrested and brought to the Hamilton County Jail, where they’re being held pending Tennessee, California, and federal charges, according to officials.

“The Brentwood Police Department is thankful for the assistance of the Metro Nashville Police Department, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and our other law enforcement partners,” Brentwood Police Chief Jim Colvin said. “BPD officers and detectives worked around the clock on this investigation. Our residents should feel safe in their homes knowing members of this criminal organization have been identified and arrested.”
