Monoco joins your party during Act 2 and stands as the final member of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 roster. His special gameplay mechanic works in two stages. Unlike other characters who use skill points to get their hands on new abilities, Monoco gets new abilities by defeating enemies in battle (gathering their feet, yes).

Monco can also absorb abilities if he’s actively participating in combat, and won’t gain anything if he’s benched. After you’ve gathered several abilities, you’ll engage with the second stage of his mechanic: the ******** Wheel. During combat, this will give Monoco a mask based on his last used ability.

These masks can enhance a number of abilities, but only when used correctly. It encourages strategic selection in the game and sequencing of skills to take full advantage of the enhancements. If you can create a cycle of six abilities that loop together, you’ll be able to unlock Monoco’s full potential, and even the small combos can prove to be highly effective.

The best thing you can do for Monoco is always keep him at the party whenever you adventure into an unknown area with new enemies. This will allow you to unlock his abilities quickly.
