How to prepare for the final battle in Manor Lords Restoring the Peace

The final battle in Manor Lords’ scenario Restoring the Peace puts you through a huge difficulty spike, as your pitiful army will have to face off against an ****** of huge proportions. Preparation and how you ****** will dictate your victory.

To survive the final battle of Restoring the Peace in Manor Lords, you’ll need to be putting in the preparations early. As it is so far away, you won’t have to worry too much about arming your soldiers as soon as possible, but you’ll have to get them ready.

Most players may not pursue the Bandit camps that prop up due to *****. However, they’ll go down a little easier than you might think. It’s crucial to ****** and ******** the Brigands not just to stop them pilfering your Storehouse, but also for Influence and Treasury.

Fighting the first Bandit Camp with the starting army you’ll be set up with is crucial. This gives you Influence, which also prevents the Baron from gaining more Influence. Like you, the Baron needs Influence to claim the lands he does, which is why you’ll see his armies targeting them. The only reason he claims half the map so quickly is due to fighting for Influence.

Also, when defeating the Brigands, you can go through the camp for either resources or to benefit your Treasury. I would recommend choosing the Treasury option, as that will allow you to purchase a mercenary to ******** the rest of the Bandit Camps to get you a ton of Influence and money.

Once you’ve trounced the first bandit camp with your militia, make sure to create five more militia units. You won’t be able to arm them all now, of course, but it will mean that the retinue army you will later receive won’t take up a slot, maximising your unit slots.

Using mercenaries to keep shutting down the Bandit camps as soon as they arise is very important. You will be swimming in Influence and you’ll be earning much more money than it will cost to hire one. I would recommend doing a grand tour with one mercenary army to maximise cost effectiveness.

Once you’ve crushed all the current Bandits, disband them. And whenever another pops up, purchase another mercenary army and repeat the process. You’ll be safe, and the Baron will have a much ******* time earning Influence. Also, with your increase of Influence and funds, you can really start to make progress.

Whilst you’re building up your settlement, don’t neglect to raise your militia and your retinue, which are two different things. This is a long and expensive process, so don’t stress too much about it.

When you can, convert Burgages into buildings that produce armaments, but don’t go overboard. The moment you’ve produced enough spears for however many spear militias you want, then pause production to save resources.

Build the Manor to gain your first retinue, a separate unit to your militias. With the six militia units and your retinue, you’ll have seven units for battle. You will find your retinue in the army tab. Over time, purchase more retinue soldiers and upgrade their gear, through importing or crafting.

Before too long, you’ll have six armed militia units and a powerful retinue to go alongside them. But this is just the start.

In the Castle Planner for your Manor, you can build a Garrison Tower that will increase that region’s retinue size by 12, doubling it. Only one can be built per region. So if you want a truly formidable force, you’ll want to claim and settle other regions so you can have more Retinue armies at max capacity.

Note that if you challenge the Baron’s claim to a region, you’ll go to ****** him for the land. This will secure you the land without having to pay any influence! Mercenaries will come in handy here.

You don’t have to fully develop these other regions, just do enough to get them to a Small Village so you can build the Manor and then the Garrison Tower. With such a small size, they’ll very soon be self sufficient, especially if you use the Packstation to slowly provide them advanced materials so they don’t need to waste materials and manpower making them themselves.

Remember that you can use tithes from the Churches to gain additional Influence, although note that the tithes are paid from surplus food. I made the mistake of setting it to 100% as I assumed I would be gaining money. And now I have no food. Great.

You won’t need to settle every region to make a Garrison Tower to have good enough numbers for the final ******, although you’ll want ideally at least a few. With all of your settlements producing taxes, you should find that money comes easy to recruit and armor all of your retinue.

With careful planning, you’ll also have made just enough armaments for all of your six militias. It would also be recommended to equip them with armor.

Soon, the final battle will be upon you.

Your retinues and militia should be able to win you the day against the Baron rather easily. To trigger the final battle, you’ll have to claim all of the Baron’s other regions, which is strangely rather easy, especially as the armies really aren’t that big.

The final region, however, will have you facing off against a huge army. Honestly, if you’ve established at least four full retinue armies and have fully armored them, with your militia, you should be able to take on the final battle. But mercenaries may help with this.

Mercenary availability does dwindle over time, so by the point of the final battle, you may find that there are no more mercenary armies to hire. It may be wise to hire one or two way before the battle, and just pay them monthly with the large sum of taxes you’ll be earning to keep them around. A little more firepower won’t hurt, I’m sure.

But the time has come to face the Baron. Rally all of your retinue, militia, and any mercenary armies you have, and lay claim to the final region.

Fighting such a large battle will require you to use tactics to come out on top. The other engagements may not have had much room to really indulge in the strategic depth Manor Lords allows you.

Your front lines should consist of your spear units forming a shield wall.

Keep your archers behind. It’s important that you ****** in the open, as your archers won’t ***** in a forest at all.

With your shield wall supported by archers, tail your spare melee armies behind. As the Baron’s army clashes against your shield wall, send in your other melee militia to flank and surround the Baron’s melee fighters.

It would be wise to order your archers to ***** against the Baron’s ranged troops. With so many of your units in close quarters, their effectiveness will be limited, and you won’t want to risk friendly *****. As your archers disorganize and dwindle your ******’s ranged capabilities, your melee units will squash the rest of the Baron’s men.

Flanking and surrounding tactics are incredibly effective, so make good of them!

Before you know it, the Baron’s army would have been crushed under the weight of your many soldiers. Very well done.

As this is only in Early Access, I can’t imagine how incredible this scenario will be when Manor Lords is fully released.
