PlayStation Plus Losing One of Capcom’s Best Games With 70,000+ ‘Mostly Positive’ Steam Reviews on June 17

Every month, PlayStation Plus gives and takes, adding new titles to its Extra and Premium tiers while quietly pulling others from the shelves. It’s the cycle subscribers have come to expect, but the June 2025 update hits a little harder than usual.

One of the titles confirmed to leave is none other than Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom’s critically acclaimed action RPG. Over the years, it has become a fan-favorite that still holds up brilliantly. If you haven’t yet carved your path through Kamura Village, now is the perfect (and possibly final, on PS Plus) time to give this gem a shot.

Monster Hunter Rise: A roaring success that’s leaving PlayStation Plus soon

Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise burst onto the scene in March 2021 (Switch), January 2022 for PC, and 2023 for consoles, winning over critics and players alike with its fluid Wirebug traversal, customizable hunting styles, and sprawling endemic life.

Rise wasn’t just another entry in the long-running franchise; it refined and reinvigorated core mechanics, layering in optional verticality and unprecedented mobility without sacrificing the series’ trademark strategic depth.

The result? Over 70,000 “Mostly Positive” reviews on

, an achievement few multiplayer action RPGs can boast. Each hunt still feels meticulously crafted: whether you’re stalking a monster or tackling it head-on, the tension and triumph are palpable.

Weapon movesets sparkle with nuance, armor sets ooze personality, and the rhythm of carving materials to forge new gear hits that sweet spot of satisfying grind. So, it’ll be a sad moment when the game leaves the subscription service on June 17 (via

).

Maybe this opens up the path for the Monster Hunter Wilds to join the service, but if Capcom follows the pattern of previous titles, it won’t be arriving anytime soon. Anyways, it is clear that Monster Hunter Rise is a title PS Plus members will genuinely miss.

June shake-up: More than just Monster Hunter Rise

Daniel Mullins Games’ Inscryption

While Monster Hunter Rise may be the crown jewel of this month’s exclusives, it isn’t alone in the PS Plus purge. Sony has confirmed five additional titles set to vanish on June 17: Rogue Legacy 2, Inscryption, After Us, Kayak VR: Mirage, and Avicii Invector.

Together, they represent a diverse group of genres, from roguelite platforming and narrative-driven card puzzles to VR kayaking adventures and rhythm games.

The silver lining? Your in-service progress for each title remains safe and sound. All character levels, unlocked gear, and completed quests will still be recorded in Sony’s cloud. The catch? Once the clock strikes midnight on June 17, you’ll no longer be able to boot these games via your PS Plus subscription.

To re-enter these worlds, you’ll need to purchase them outright, often at full price. For fans who’ve invested dozens (or hundreds) of hours into character builds, that’s a bitter pill to ********.

As with last month’s larger wave of 22 removals, some players are frustrated but also happy that it’s only 6 titles this time. In the end, if you’ve been eyeing any of these six titles, now’s the time to download and dive in before they slip through your fingers.
