Where to find and upgrade the Laptop, Drawing, and Journal

A new easter egg has been added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies with the release of the Season Three Reloaded update, and you’ll need to collect a Giraffe Toy, Laptop with Stickers, Imaginary Friend Drawing, and Science Journal to access the new Dark Aether Rift.

Going through all that trouble will give you the chance to unlock some of the new Schematics introduced in the Season Three Reloaded update like the Sergeant’s Beret, Golden Mask Filter, and ***** Wire Detonators. It’s more than worth the effort, but like all CoD Zombies easter eggs, you need to know what you’re supposed to do first.

To start the easter egg and get the Giraffe Toy, all you have to do is complete the new Union story mission added in the Season Three Reloaded update. This involves a trip to the Dark Aether and pits you against a powerful Disciple named Taoxia. After successfully defeating Taoxia, you’ll be rewarded with the Giraffe Toy.

The second relic item that you need for this easter egg is the Laptop with Stickers. To get this item to drop, you need to complete a mercenary camp with a tamed Hellhound and let the dog get the final hit on the sergeant. As long as the Hellhound lands the ******** *****, a reward rift will spawn with the purple Laptop With Stickers. You can do this in any difficulty tier.

The Imaginary Friend Drawing is hidden underneath a bed in the large house at I7 in the bottom right corner of the map. There’s a Pack-a-Punch machine there if you’re having trouble finding it.

Once you arrive at the house, head upstairs and find the bedroom. Go prone and look under the bed to find a small container. After some spooky dialogue, you’ll get the Imaginary Friend Drawing.

The Science Journal is the last relic that you need to complete this easter egg. All you need to do to get it is visit the purple storm and ***** 50 Zombies inside of it. You don’t need to ***** the Stormcaller or use any particular weapons. Just ***** 50 Zombies and a reward rift will spawn with the purple Science Journal.

After obtaining the purple versions of the Laptop with Stickers, Imaginary Friend Drawing, and Science Journal, it’s time to upgrade them to gold rarity. To do so, head to the red zone center of the map.

There are three purple triangles hidden throughout Old Town that point to runes that you can ******. If you ****** all three runes, lines will appear on the nearby buildings. Finding a vantage point that makes the lines look like a completed triangle will spawn a purple ring that requires you to ***** Zombies.

Normally, this purple triangle easter egg would give you 2000 Essence, a Flawless Aetherium Crystal, and a Legendary Aether Tool. If you have one of the relic items with you, however, an orb will spawn in the center of the circle. Interact with it and a powerful boss Zombie will spawn. Defeating the boss Zombie will spawn a special reward rift with the upgraded golden versions of each item.

One of the purple triangles is near the Dark Aether Rift entrance for the Union story mission just a short distance from the courtyard. We’re still working out the locations of the other triangles, though, so this guide will be updated as more information becomes available.
