May 22 Will Be a Huge Day for Warhammer Fans

Warhammer fans have been living their best lives ever since Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 released. With consistent content drops and a third title already confirmed to be in development, fans of the series are being treated like emperors. Talk about quality service.

It’s very rare for a franchise to stay relevant in gaming even after all these years, especially in today’s competitive market. But Warhammer has emerged victorious against all odds, and guess what? It has no intention of slowing down with a new game already on the way and dropping as soon as this week.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is leaving early access this week

Developer Caged Element Inc. and publisher Wired Productions have

that Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is finally launching with its 1.0 version this week, officially leaving early access after being in it for nearly a year. While the game is releasing as advertised, it’s undergoing some major changes.

For starters, the game is no longer free-to-play. But wait, just a moment, as the game will cost just $15.99, which is a refreshingly low paywall and way less than the now normalised 80 bucks. Additionally, the developers clarified in a press release that players who were already playing the early access version of the title will receive the game for free.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freek’s early access managed to rack up 250,000 players, and if you were one of them, you’ll be upgraded to the launch version at no extra cost. Microtransactions present in the early access are also being axed for the premium version, and if you purchased or earned any of the game’s premium currency in early access, you’ll still be able to use it for the next 12 months.

Another huge change is the publisher. The free-to-play version was published by PLAION, while the premium release is being published by Wired Productions. There are no hard feelings between them, and Caged Element game director Chris Mallinson had nothing but good things to say about them in a press release.

We set out to make the Orkiest of Warhammer 40,000 games, and through our Early Access ******* we’ve had thousands of people help us achieve that goal—along with our previous publisher PLAION.

Chris further explained in the press release how teaming up with Wired Productions to release the premium version of the game allowed them to approach it differently. Plus, the devs worked with the publishers on a previous title, so it’s a win-win for both parties.

Now with Wired Productions picking up the torch, we’re launching out of Early Access and into version 1.0 with a different approach that we think players will really appreciate and enjoy. We thank both partners for their dedication to the game, along with Games Workshop. We’re of course very happy to be back with our pals at Wired Productions, since we worked with them before on GRIP. Now enuff o’ dat, on to da WAAAGH!!!

Seems like May 22 is shaping up to be a grand day for Warhammer fans as they finally join in on the wackiness of the combat racing title featuring the Orks. While it isn’t a traditional Warhammer title, it’s gearing up to be a damn good time because, who doesn’t want to drive weaponised cars and just obliterate other players on the track?

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 is also in development

While players race through the Warhammer universe in Speed Freeks, it’s worth remembering that the next mainline game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, is already in development. Focus Entertainment already put out a

on their website a few months ago, stating that the title is officially in development.

Focus didn’t reveal any other crucial details, but they did confirm that Titus will be making his return in the highly anticipated threequel. We’re still years away from seeing a potential reveal for the game, but it’s good to know that the developers at Saber Interactive are hard at work and cooking some delicious delicacies for the fans.

So, what do you think about Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks launching this week? Will you be checking it out, or is being a Space Marine more up your alley? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
