NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Officials have identified one of the two people who died after a ******** Navy ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge as a 20-year-old woman.

América Yamilet Sánchez, of Xalapa, died after Saturday’s ******, according to Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García. She was a cadet, Nahle García said.

The ****** happened around 8:20 p.m. Saturday, when a boat carrying 277 people struck the bridge, according to the FDNY. Two people have died and another 22 people were injured, including 11 in serious condition, according to the ******** Secretary of the Navy.

The bridge was initially closed in both directions but did not have structural damage, officials said.
