Bluff Knoll rescue: Emergency services called after hiker slips and injures ankle, just metres from the summit

The State Emergency Service is responding to a rescue at Bluff Knoll after a hiker slipped and injured their ankle, just 150m from the summit.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services and St John WA were called to the mountain after reports of an injured male hiker about 6.30pm on Saturday.

SES volunteers made contact with the hiker at about 12am, but were stood down because the rescue would have been too challenging in the dark.

Volunteers returned to the mountain about 5am on Sunday and are still determining the safest way to bring him down.

Bluff Knoll is the highest peak in the Stirling Ranges and takes up to four hours to climb.
