Expedition 33 Devs Considering Switch 2 Port Is a Royally Bad Idea for One Simple Reason

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 quickly became a massive hit after its release last month. Within a short duration, they managed to receive a huge fanbase, who are impressed by their quality of work. Moreover, being available on major platforms like PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S is always a huge bonus.

But what about Nintendo Switch 2? Well, it’s a fifty-fifty situation as there is no official confirmation from either Kepler Interactive or Sandfall Interactive. However, if they do consider that, it might be a bad move. Not that Switch 2 is a bad platform, but there’s a ******* reason.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Switch 2 port doesn’t seem to be a good idea

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s main attraction point is that it has been made by a small team who are focused on making good games. All the major development studios have become more business-focused than creating products that will impact the industry, but Sandfall has been a breath of fresh air.

Moreover, the CEO of Sandfall Interactive, Guillaume Broche, left Ubisoft in 2020 because he “got bored.” Broche is extremely creative in his ideas, and it is evident when one plays the game, even for just a couple of hours. That’s exactly what allowed him to create a masterpiece like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

But Switch 2 is just another platform, isn’t it better to make to available to more folks? The problem isn’t the platform, but Nintendo itself is. Thanks to them, the industry is observing a hike in video game prices. It would be a lie to say that they price their games according to content.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is only a $50 game, and is one of the best titles the gaming world has seen recently! It has been made through pure art and passion for gaming, with no business mind involved.

What does Guillaume Broche want to do with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Guillaume Broche is overwhelmed with the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. However, he did hint that there’s a possibility that their game would be made available to Switch 2. This is what he said on

Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything. So clearly, it’s too early to say, but we’re kind of in a situation where… let’s say there are a lot of opportunities showing up. Way too many at once, and we’re figuring out what we’ll go for and what we won’t. But yeah, it’s definitely something that could be interesting.

For now, Sandfall wants to focus on bug fixing mostly, so that the experience is smooth for all. Working on a port will create a lot of pressure on the team if they wish to release it on Switch 2. In the far future, there might be a possibility, though.

There are plans for a DLC for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Sandfall does have an opportunity to release a port and DLC at the same time. Will that happen for sure? Well, they have a small team, so it can’t really be said for sure. It took almost six years to create their game; coding a port will be an immense task, so let’s give them time before forcing our demands on them.

However, if Sandfall wishes to focus on what competitors are doing and take familiar steps. Nintendo fans could enjoy the game on their Switch 2 once it releases. For now, don’t expect the game to release on their platform so soon.
