Toby Price coming to rally

Two-time Dakar race moto winner Toby Price OAM is racing in WA’s Forest Rally.

But instead of being on a bike, Toby will be with co-driver Holly Kilbride in the Subaru WRX Challenge.

It is Toby’s first time competing in the *********** Rally Championship. The Forest Rally, from May 23 to 25, is round two of the ARC, the opening round of the Subaru WRX Challenge, and held around Nannup, about three hours south of Perth.

The Forest Rally consists of two heats of six stages over 184.3km.

International drivers are coming from Ireland, New Zealand and Sweden.

In addition to his Dakar motorcycle wins, Toby, 37, has won the Finke Desert Race nine times, on two and four wheels, and has won off-road events in his Red Bull Trophy Truck.

But Toby says the ARC is strong, with some good competition.

“I’ve heard and seen so many amazing things about the Forest Rally, both when it comes to the stages and the unique surface we’ll be rallying on and also how well organised this event is by the WA Car Club,” says Toby.

Also under the Maximum Motorsport banner is 2020 Junior WRC Champion Tom Kristensson and co-driver Andreas Johansson, who will race under the Swedish flag.

Former World Rally Championship (WRC) competitor and two-time European champion Hayden Paddon will come from New Zealand to drive a Hyundai i20N.

Irish rally star Frank Kelly will drive his classic 1977 Ford ******* Mk2 with daughter and co-driver Lauren.

Irish compatriot Matt Shinnons is leasing a local 1971 Datsun 1600, to compete with wife and co-driver Catherine Shinnons.
