Everything that made the modern Doom games great, the speed, the mayhem, the gore, is still here, but it now drops with an extra gritty, medieval hellscape. You’re still running and gunning, but with a twist: instead of just guns and chainsaws, you now have a shield you can throw like a boomerang of death.

It might have raised a few eyebrows in early trailers, but it’s shockingly satisfying in action, especially once upgraded. And while some fans miss the glory kills from earlier games, there’s still gore. And they’re not completely gone as bosses still have them, giving you those cinematic finishers fans love.
