was originally released in 2012 by Rockstar, who took over development of the third installment after purchasing the IP from Remedy Entertainment, the maker of the first two games. While Max Payne has always existed in the shadows of Grand Theft Auto and later Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 helped bring the series to an even wider audience of fans who are still passionate about the high-octane action trilogy today. As such, Remedy Entertainment is currently deep in development of ground-up remakes of the first two Max Payne titles, which have been in the works for several years.
