The merge genre is one that we’ve seen nearly limitless iterations on, but sometimes it’s nice to go back to the roots of a cute and relatively inoffensive puzzler. Which is exactly what developer Mobirix have done with their upcoming release, Merge Cat Town, set to arrive on mobile come October 10th (at least, according to the App Store listing)!

You can probably guess by the name alone what Merge Cat Town is about, so no prizes for guessing that it’s an adorable match-three puzzler where your job is to help cute cats rebuild their island home. However, simplicity has never been a mark against top releases on mobile.

And Merge Cat Town looks to offer a straightforward but still fun and engaging set of core gameplay mechanics. You simply need to select objects from your ‘magic toolbox’, merging them to create items that can then be sold to your cats, raising their level and eventually that of the entire island.

It’s certainly rare, if not unheard of, for the description of a new release to ask you ‘please’. But Merge Cat Town is certainly a well-polished looking addition to the merge genre, and I can imagine there are plenty of fans who’ll look forward to restoring the livelihoods of these adorable cats. And it’s also a fine addition to Mobirix’s surprisingly diverse catalogue.

As if that’s not enough, Mobirix are also quick to point to a number of in-game events, such as Pandora’s Box and Whisker’s Missions, which will help you upgrade your town further and also grant other unlockable goodies to boost you along.
