It is also set in the world of Elden Ring, and has quite a few things going for it. The title is set to launch for PCs as well, and should not be very demanding in terms of PC hardware. With team red, things can get a bit dicey when it comes to ray tracing, though. Regardless, you can find a collection of estimated best settings for the game in the sections below. Why optimizing settings matters in Elden Ring: Nightreign Elden Ring Nightreign isn’t a particularly heavy game to run. The game mandates rather modest PC system requirements and is barely a step up when compared to Elden Ring, at least in terms of graphics. However, Nightreign does appear to be more CPU-bound, so make sure to have a beefy CPU this time around. As far as AMD’s best options go, the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will likely remain top tier in terms of performance. The 7800 XT and 7700 XT should deliver powerful 4K and 1440p gaming solutions, respectively, while the RX 6700 XT should be plenty fine for Medium settings at 1440p. The RX 6700 XT is still quite a capable card, after all. However, it should be kept in mind that FromSoftware titles aren’t exactly known to be very optimized (at least on launch), so expect some performance hiccups here and there during the initial launch window. This is especially true for pre-RDNA 4 GPUs. System Requirements for Elden Ring: Nightreign Here are the PC system requirements for Elden Ring: Nightreign: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Minimum Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i5-10600 or an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 RAM: 12 GB GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB) or an AMD Radeon RX 580 (4 GB) DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 30 GB; SSD preferred Recommended Operating System: Windows 11 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i5-11600 or an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 RAM: 16 GB GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (8 GB) or an AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 (8 GB) DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 30 GB; SSD preferred Elden Ring: Nightreign isn’t a particularly demanding game – all things considered. However, it does come with a few gotchas, the first of which is a hard-coded 60 FPS cap, carried over from Elden Ring’s game engine. No matter how much you push it, you will not be able to go over 60 FPS in the game, unless you use some modding tool. As such, we can get away with a lot higher settings (than usual) with the cap in mind. Optimizing the game is potentially more important for AMD cards, given that their last-gen ray tracing implementation is really poor – when compared to Nvidia. Best settings for RX 9070 XT, 9070, and 7900 GRE in Elden Ring Nightreign Texture Quality: High Antialiasing Quality: High SSAO: High Depth of Field: Off/Player preference Motion Blur: Off/Player preference Shadow Quality: High Lighting Quality: High Effects Quality: High Volumetric Quality: High Reflection Quality: High Water Surface Quality: High Shader Quality: High Global Illumination Quality: High Grass Quality: High With the exception of the RX 7900 GRE, the other two cards can have ray tracing left enabled. AMD made a lot of improvements with the RX 9000 series, especially with regard to ray tracing. Otherwise, all 3 GPUs should be quite capable of playing Elden Ring: Nightreign at 4K resolutions with no upscaling enabled. Best settings for RX 7800 XT and 6700 XT in Elden Ring Nightreign Here are the best settings for these mid-range GPUs: Texture Quality: High Antialiasing Quality: High SSAO: Medium Depth of Field: Off/Player preference Motion Blur: Off/Player preference Shadow Quality: Medium Lighting Quality: High Effects Quality: High Volumetric Quality: High Reflection Quality: High Water Surface Quality: High Shader Quality: High Global Illumination Quality: Medium Grass Quality: High The combination of settings above should be enough for 1440p gameplay at 60 FPS. Those with an RX 6700 XT might find it in their best interests to tone down some of these settings, though, in case of any abnormalities. 4K vs 1440p vs 1080p performance: Which resolution should you choose? For lower-end, budget-oriented GPUs, 1080p remains the better option here, especially if they have 4 GB VRAM or lower. This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up RX 9070 XT can handle the game pretty well | Image Credits: FromSoftware On the other hand, flagship tier cards such as the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT should be able to easily run the game at 4K, with max settings. Midrange GPUs such as the 6700 XT and 7800 XT should do fine at 1440p. Ray tracing and DLSS/FSR/XeSS: Worth enabling? Elden Ring: Nightreign does not support any upscaling methods (at least officially), so you simply cannot use techniques such as FSR to boost performance. Try looking for mods that inject the same into the game. The game does support basic raytracing, though, which isn’t all that impressive. Consider disabling it if you run into performance hiccups. Elden Ring: Nightreign best settings summary table You can find a summarized combination of settings below, sorted for each GPU: GPU Resolution Preset Ray Tracing RX 9070 XT, 9070, 7900 GRE 4K High On RX 7800 XT 1440p High, with some tweaks to Medium Off RX 6700 XT 1440p High, with some tweaks to Medium Off Final thoughts: Future proofing and expected updates As is prevalent in the gaming industry of today, PC ports tend to be quite terrible in nature. Expect middling performance and poor optimization when trying to play the game day one. The original Elden Ring had its fair share of issues, and things should not change for Nightreign either. In terms of a long-term investment, though, the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT remain top tier, and should last you for years. It is generally not recommended to pick the other entries within this list unless you absolutely cannot afford it.
