Best Settings for RTX 5090, 5070, 5070 Ti, 4090, 4070, 4070 Ti

FromSoftware is all set to release Elden Ring: Nightreign for PCs on May 30, 2025. The game is a PvP and PvE spinoff of the critically acclaimed Elden Ring video game, and has players assemble a team of three and collaborate together in order to defeat the final boss.

It should come as no surprise that Nightreign features almost identical PC system requirements to those of Elden Ring, given its usage of the same game engine. The game does appear to be a fair bit more CPU dependent this time around, which might skew results for the RTX 5000 class of GPUs.

Why optimizing settings matters in Elden Ring: Nightreign

While the RTX 5090 and RTX 4090 can brute force their way through many games with relative ease, optimizing for performance is generally a far superior option. After all, most modern games are rather poorly optimized, making even the mighty RTX 5090 tremble at times.

Fine-tuning a game can result in smoother frame rates, and at times even greater than 60 FPS equivalents, which can in turn greatly enhance your experience. Some settings for Elden Ring are just poorly optimized and require tweaking to ensure more stability.

Substituting these values is especially more important for weaker GPUs, such as the RTX 4070, and offers a minimal hit to image quality.

Keeping that in mind, let us have a look at the best settings for Elden Ring: Nightreign, across a variety of Nvidia GPUs.

System Requirements for Elden Ring: Nightreign

Here are the PC system requirements for Elden Ring: Nightreign:

Minimum

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-10600 or an AMD Ryzen 5 5500
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB) or an AMD Radeon RX 580 (4 GB)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 30 GB; SSD preferred

Recommended

  • Operating System: Windows 11 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-11600 or an AMD Ryzen 5 5600
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (8 GB) or an AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 (8 GB)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 30 GB; SSD preferred

As seen from the PC system requirements above, Elden Ring is not a particularly demanding game. If anything, cards like the RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 far exceed the capabilities of the GTX 1070 and should have no issues running the game.

However, optimizing the game should, in theory, prevent more frame rate drops and ensure a smooth 60 frames per second. This is even more apparent when we take into consideration options such as ray tracing and ultra settings.

Another thing to note here is that Nightreign is very likely to remain locked to 60 frames per second out of the box, something which was also prevalent in Elden Ring. Given that both games use the same engine, this is likely to remain unchanged.

Best settings for RTX 5090, 5070 and 5070 Ti in Elden Ring Nightreign

You can refer to the settings below:

  • Texture Quality: High
  • Antialiasing Quality: High
  • SSAO: High
  • Depth of Field: Off/Player preference
  • Motion Blur: Off/Player preference
  • Shadow Quality: High
  • Lighting Quality: High
  • Effects Quality: High
  • Volumetric Quality: High
  • Reflection Quality: High
  • Water Surface Quality: High
  • Shader Quality: High
  • Global Illumination Quality: High
  • Grass Quality: High

Ray tracing should be left enabled. Nightreign does support 4K resolutions out of the box, but is very unlikely to support ultrawide natively. These RTX 5070 and 5070 TI should be able to easily handle the game at High settings, and the RTX 5070 shouldn’t fall too far behind either.

Best settings for RTX 4090, 4070, 4070 Ti in Elden Ring Nightreign

Here are the best settings for these mid-range GPUs:

  • Texture Quality: High
  • Antialiasing Quality: High
  • SSAO: Medium
  • Depth of Field: Off/Player preference
  • Motion Blur: Off/Player preference
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Lighting Quality: High
  • Effects Quality: High
  • Volumetric Quality: High
  • Reflection Quality: High
  • Water Surface Quality: High
  • Shader Quality: High
  • Global Illumination Quality: Medium
  • Grass Quality: High

These settings should be ideal for both 1080p and 1440p gameplay. Note that ray tracing is optional here, and can be enabled if so desired. The RTX 4070 is still quite a capable card, and should be able to handle the game at 1440p.

4K vs 1440p vs 1080p performance: Which resolution should you choose?

Ideally, one should choose resolutions closest to that of their native display resolution, with upscaling enabled. Unfortunately, Nightreign will likely not ship with any such option, making our performance leeway a bit more difficult.

As a general rule of thumb, however, the RTX 5090 and 4090, along with the 4070 Ti and 5070 Ti, should handle 4K gaming a whole lot better. The RTX 4070 and 5070 are better suited for 1440p gaming and require lowering resolutions.

All cards should hit 60 FPS with smartly calibrated resolutions and settings.

Ray tracing and DLSS/FSR/XeSS: Worth enabling?

Elden Ring Nightreign is unlikely to come with upscalers of any kind, which makes comparing these techniques a moot point. It is, however. possible to install third-party mods that unlock these features.

Nightreign should support ray tracing out of the box, though, and it should not make for a transformative experience. If your PC can handle it, it might be worth enabling. For most, though, it is best left disabled.

Elden Ring: Nightreign best settings summary table

You can find a table summarizing the settings below:

GPU Resolution Preset Ray Tracing
RTX 5090, 4090 4K High On
RTX 5070  Ti, 4070 Ti 4K High, with some tweaks to Medium Off
RTX 5070, 4070 1440p High, with some tweaks to Medium Off

Final thoughts: Future proofing and expected updates

Nightreign is also expected to follow the same trend of FormSoftware titles being especially unusually unplayable at launch. Expect the game to run poorly, with a few uneven frametimes and dips.

The RTX 5070 and RTX 5090 are fantastic cards if you can get them for decent prices, and should last you well beyond the game’s lifespan.

Performance should end up being a lot more stable once patches are rolled out, though.

FAQs

  • Can the RTX 5090 play Elden Ring: Nightreign at 4K?: Yes, it can.
  • Does Elden Ring Nightreign have DLSS?: Unlikely to have DLSS or any upscaler.
  • Is the RTX 4070 Ti enough for Elden Ring: Nightreign?: At 1440p, it is more than enough.
