Trump flags 100 per cent tariff on movies outside of US

President Donald Trump has announced a 100 per cent tariff on all movies produced outside the United States.

He said he was authorising the US Trade Representative to implement the tariff because the United States’ movie industry is dying “a very fast death” due to other countries offering incentives to attract filmmaker’s and studios.

“This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Sunday.

“It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda!”

“The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death. Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States,” Trump wrote.

“Hollywood, and many other areas within the USA, are being devastated.”
