reporter Mitch Cleary revealed details of the alleged incident that happened in the Melbourne CBD.

“Tarryn Thomas and another man were allegedly caught in possession of drugs and deal bags in the CBD of Melbourne,” he said on Sunday Footy Feast.

“In a statement to 7NEWS, police have confirmed a 24-year-old Thomastown man and a 25-year-old Ormond man are both expected to be charged on summons.

“This came after a Lamborghini that both males were in, were spotted in a no-standing zone.

“Officers then executed a search on that vehicle where they found the drugs and the deal bags.”

The incident comes three weeks after Thomas was allegedly held hostage at gunpoint over a car deal gone wrong in Ballarat.

Thomas remains in the football wilderness after a controversial end to his AFL career.

He had been ineligible to play football at any level after the integrity unit last year found he had engaged in multiple acts of misconduct, including threatening a woman in direct messages.

He was suspended for 18 matches and subsequently axed by North Melbourne.

In November, Thomas walked free from court on a good behaviour bond, avoiding a criminal conviction after police dropped a charge of using a telecommunications service to harass a woman.

Earlier this year, the AFL said Thomas was eligible for a state-league return after showing a “consistent change in his behaviour” and completing an education and behavioural change program.

Despite spending time at different clubs around the country, no VFL or WAFL club signed him.

He is not permitted to enter the 2025 AFL mid-season draft, while no decision has been made on whether he can return to the top level next year.

Thomas, who was taken with pick No.8 in the 2018 AFL draft, played 69 games for the Kangaroos.
