One of the most popular planets in Helldivers 2, Troost, finally got liberated. Players have pointed out over the past few weeks that only a small section of players were diving on Troost of the Trigon Sector to liberate it from Automaton control. Every time players would check Troost’s liberation campaign, fewer than 1000 players were usually spotted fighting on the planet. These players have been grinding for over 20 days now, and today, they have finally managed to free the planet from Automatons, something that no one expected.

Helldivers 2‘s lore is slowly getting intense as the Meridian Singularity has stopped. However, something strange has happened. The Illuminate faction has completely disappeared, which makes no sense as Illuminate kicked off its invasion only a few months ago. The faction might return with a much greater plan, so players must stay frosty.

Helldivers 2 has managed to wipe out its competition, but its popularity is only expected to grow further as a movie based on the franchise has been confirmed.

Troost Divers have finally completed their goal in Helldivers 2

Over the past month, a certain section of Helldivers 2 players called Troost Divers has been working hard to liberate Troost from Automaton control. Many believed that these players were wasting their time by focusing on a planet that doesn’t really require their attention. However, these players have proved everyone wrong as they finally liberated it from Automaton control, a remarkable achievement indeed.

This just shows how small efforts can matter in the Galactic War, but why Troost? A past Major Order revealed that Troost is where the bots store their deep space communications relay, so taking a planet like this would certainly help Super Earth in the long run. Many criticised the Troost Divers for not focusing on the ongoing Major Orders, but if Arrowhead somehow ties the lore with the liberation of this planet, it would be perfect.

The current Major Order requires players to keep control of Fenrir III, Mastia, Turing, Claorell, and Achernar Secundus to ensure their safety after Illuminate weakened their defences. So far, players are doing a great job defending these planets, which is certainly an improvement, as players failed to complete the Major Order right before the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator was activated.

Super Earth recently activated the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator and managed to stop the Meridian Singularity that was destroying everything on its path. Thankfully, the wormhole has stopped. However, something strange has happened: the Illuminate faction has wholly disappeared. Super Earth believes they decided to retreat because their numbers were reduced, but that might not be the case.

It would be stupid to assume that one of the deadliest alien races in the Helldivers universe would just retreat completely. The remaining Illuminate units have retreated to come up with another deadly attack. The entire faction is yet to appear in the game, so expect to see some stronger Illuminate units on the battlefield soon. The current Major Order may seem easy, but that’s just Arrowhead Game Studios giving players a cooldown ******* before a massive war.

The first Helldivers game featured some strong Illuminate enemies like Illusionist, Council Member, Obelisk, Apprentice, Strider, and Great Eye, and without these enemies, the Illuminate faction in the second game would feel incomplete.

Recently, Helldivers 2 bagged two BAFTA Awards at the 2025 BAFTA Game Awards, and Johan Pilestedt, the CCO of Arrowhead, believes that it is because of the co-op experience. There are many co-op PvE games, but Helldivers 2 is different, as it offers an action-packed experience with exciting game mechanics. Plus, its intriguing lore has kept the players hooked for quite some time now.

The game is doing great, but fans are excited to know what’s next. We know that Arrowhead developers are working on a lot of new content, which includes new maps, enemies, weapons, Stratagems, etc, but on top of this, players need another crossover. The Killzone x Helldivers 2 crossover was a success, so players naturally want to see more crossovers.

But before Arrowhead starts to roll out the new content, it must ensure the game is in a stable condition, as many PC players have recently reported that they are facing major technical issues.

It’s no secret that Helldivers 2 has been dominating the co-op genre; in fact, the game’s popularity has grown so much that Sony has decided to create a movie based on the franchise. Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, has revealed that the studio has partnered with Sony Pictures to develop a movie based on Helldivers 2. With video game adaptations trending right now, it would be a great decision to give fans a Helldivers 2 movie.
