Marvel Rivals Fans Demand No Point Deduction if DPS Heroes ****** It Up

The atmosphere in the Marvel Rivals community has been… tense, to say the least. And honestly, can you blame them? Support mains are not getting the respect they deserve (and are on a strike), and when that’s not the issue, team compositions in ranked are falling apart in spectacular fashion.

Today, we bring you another prime example of how a match can go completely off the rails, even when victory is within reach, and why fans are begging NetEase for ranked penalties to show a little more mercy when it’s clearly (or entirely) not their fault.

Marvel Rivals fans have had enough and are demanding a change

As you already know, Marvel Rivals allows players to select any hero they want, with no role restrictions. On the surface, this sounds like freedom, and it actually has been since its release. But in ranked? It’s more like roulette.

Every match feels like a gamble: will someone pick a tank? Will someone pick a support? If we have support, will the two supports work together? Or will the lobby devolve into DPS insta-locks? This doesn’t help with the fact that the current balancing leans in favor of duelists.

With some players having role flexibility of a toothpick, it’s not hard to see why players are frustrated, especially in ranked. At lower ranks, sure, you can sometimes get away with bad comps. But not always, and certainly not when things start falling apart at the worst possible moment.

Case in point: a recent match that sparked a plea from the community.

In a thread that perfectly sums up why the players are frustrated, one fan shared how their ranked game completely unraveled, despite their team being in a winning position (with bad composition). Three teammates rage-quit, one followed, and the player who stayed was still hit with a point loss.

This highlights the core issue of the current ranked system: it doesn’t care who stayed, who tried, or who sabotaged the match. Sure, there’s a short ****** ban for leavers, but that doesn’t undo the MMR hit taken by the teammates who stuck it out.

A delicate balance for NetEase to find

Yes, it’s frustrating, but the resolution to this issue is not as simple as hero balance changes. The issue lies in the fine line between too much leniency and too little protection.

On one hand, if NetEase is too lenient, it risks creating an environment ripe for exploitation, things like ****** dodging, soft throwing, or even outright gaming the system just to avoid point loss. The last thing anyone wants is a system that encourages players to quit early or intentionally throw games.

On the other hand, if the protection is too strict, players who were accidentally kicked from the game, due to an internet issue or a game ******, get punished unfairly. They’re left paying the price for something completely out of their control, which only deepens the frustration.

You see the tricky part here. But even so, there’s no excuse for letting three rage-quits tank someone’s hard-earned rank. NetEase needs to implement smart protections that shield committed players from the chaos caused by teammates who give up.

The community has made their frustrations clear. Now it’s up to the developers to meet them halfway, before the system loses the trust of the players who care the most.
