How to roll, *****, and more

When trying out the Out of Action demo, I kept rolling off the map or other levels when trying to sprint like I thought I should. The movement is a little unconventional, but it’s fun when you get the hang of it.

The best way to explain how the movement works in Out of Action, is to simply present to you how to pull of every movement trick, aside from walking and jumping, of course.

Movement How to do it
Crouch Hold Control
Slide Hold/press Control when moving
Prone Hold Shift
Roll Press Shift when moving
***** Hold Shift when moving

Movement is the key to mastering Out of Action. When I finally got the hang of how movement worked, I was able to perform much better. Rolling by a door and blasting an ****** with the shotgun whilst in motion was undeniably cool.

However, there is more to the motion of Out of Action then simply knowing what button does what, with some finer details that you should be made aware of.

One trick I was delighted to learn about was pushing enemies in Out of Action.

When sliding, rolling, or diving into an ******, you’ll push them back and deal some damage. This allows you to punish melee users for getting too close, whilst providing you ample time to riddle them with bullets.

You don’t even have to have momentum, either. A quick press of a button will have you pushing them away into walls or off ledges. For the most part, those with guns have been able to keep upright and continue *******, but it allows me to disorientate them and avoid their *****.

If you plan to use this to your advantage, I’d recommend keeping a shotgun handy.

When going prone, note that it takes a second for you to get up. You will not want to be going prone in the middle of a ******, as that will immobilize you for the precious few seconds it takes to ***** you. You also can’t move when prone, just look around.

This makes going prone only really useful for surprising the ****** in a 1v1, where they may expect you to roll away. Pressing the prone button instead of holding will mean you’ll be up as soon as possible.

When diving, only hold the button as long as you want to ***** for. You will eventually come to a stop, and continuing to hold Shift will keep you prone. As mentioned before, it is not desirable to stay prone. So when diving, upon you ******* at the ******, release Shift. This will give you another second to ***** them or for them to flee before you jump back up again, keeping you on the move.

And that’s all you need to know about movement in Out of Action. All you need to do now is practice upon your foes. Good luck!
