Authorities have revealed details following an initial investigation into a horror incident involving 36 ADF near Lismore, sharing an update on their conditions.

In a statement shared by NSW Police, a spokesperson said: “Police have been advised the injuries appear to be non-life threatening.”

The incident occurred around 5pm on Saturday, after one ADF truck, with 31 heroes onboard, left the roadway and rolled several times into a paddock.

A second vehicle tipped onto its side attempting to avoid the first vehicle.

Authorities said the vehicles did not collide with each other.

It is understood that each ADF truck had one driver and was carrying 15 other ADF personnel.

After an emergency call was made, NSW Police, NSW Police Rescue, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, NSW Fire and Rescue, SES and RFS crews were deployed, tirelessly working to free 32 ADF heroes trapped in the wrecking of the ******.

“All were taken to hospitals in Lismore, Tweed Heads, Ballina and Byron Bay for assessment, with 13 requiring treatment; police have been advised the injuries appear to be non-life threatening,” A NSW Police spokesperson said.

It is understood that three ADF heroes are currently at the Lismore Hospital where they are being treated for serious injuries.

Officers attached to the Far North Coast ****** Investigation Unit are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the ******.

Following the ******, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese issued a joint statement with Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles confirming the “serious vehicle incident involving two *********** Defence Force vehicles near Lismore”.

“A number of ADF personnel have been injured, some seriously,” the statement said.

“Medical assistance is on hand. We stress this is an ongoing incident.

“Right now our focus is on the ******** of those involved and their families.

“Our ADF heroes were on their way to help Australians in need.”

NSW Premier Chris Minns said in a statement that he was “very concerned”.

“They (ADF personnel) came to the Northern Rivers to help keep this community safe,” he said.

“NSW emergency services are currently responding on the scene and we will provide all support necessary.”
