Several essential items and services in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 now come with inflated prices due to the Baron Escalation Tax. The Outlaw Port-A-Potties, once free, now cost 100 Gold to use. Meanwhile, the price of small items in Outlaw Vending Machines has doubled to 200 Gold, while large items now cost a staggering 1,200 Gold.

For now, the Baron Escalation Tax is set to expire on March 25, 2025. But depending on our feedback and how well it integrates with the season’s narrative, Epic Games could extend or modify it. If the feature is popular among players, we might see future seasons feature similar changes. It’d be a pretty cool change to how we interact with the game.

From a gameplay perspective, the Baron Escalation Tax is perfect with the Lawless season’s theme. Fletcher Kane’s character is designed to be a corrupt, greedy crime lord. So it makes sense that he would implement an in-game tax on us to reinforce his control over the island. It also encourages players to engage in heists, robberies, and more lawless activities.
