2024 data storage conference lineup spotlights AI, memory

The 2024 data storage conference calendar is loaded.

Top shows run throughout the year and feature such heavyweight sponsor organizations as Dell and HPE. As is the case throughout the tech industry, AI is a theme that runs through the storage conference lineup this year. Memory technologies and the edge are among the other major topics.

Conferences are generally back to being in person, following the pandemic, although many will likely have a virtual element, such as on-demand video.

We will continue to update this data storage conference list as organizations add and update events.

MemCon, March 26-27, Mountain View, Calif.

MemCon returns for its second year. For its inaugural show in 2023, event themes included disaggregated and composable infrastructure, the Compute Express Link (CXL) interconnect, memory pooling and hierarchical memory, and computational memory and storage.

Dell Technologies World, May 20-23, Las Vegas

Dell Technologies World is a mainstay on the data storage conference calendar. Launches in conjunction with the 2023 show included additions to the Dell Apex line, security updates to PowerStore and the unveiling of the Dell NativeEdge remote management software suite. This year’s main topics will be AI, the edge, the modern data center, the modern workplace, and as-a-service and multi-cloud. Storage-specific sessions cover file storage, Kubernetes, multi-cloud and unstructured data, among other topics.

HPE Discover, week of June 17, Las Vegas

HPE Discover, the “edge-to-cloud conference,” spotlights three major areas for the 2024 show: edge, hybrid cloud and AI. Sessions will include a keynote by HPE President and CEO Antonio Neri. Atmosphere, the HPE Aruba Networking user event, runs concurrently with Discover and will also shine a spotlight on the edge. The 2023 conference featured a similar focus: HPE concentrated on its GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform at the show.

Pure//Accelerate, June 18-21, Las Vegas

Pure//Accelerate runs in the same week and location as HPE Discover, but with a different focus. All-flash vendor Pure Storage will emphasize topics such as AI, analytics and Kubernetes. Speakers will include Pure’s CEO Charles Giancarlo and founder John Colgrove. At the 2023 Accelerate data storage conference, Pure pushed its flash line and released new hardware and ransomware recovery planning capabilities.

Flash Memory Summit, Aug. 6-8, Santa Clara, Calif.

The 2024 Flash Memory Summit will feature a “new look and broader focus” and cover the “future of memory and storage,” according to the

. The 2023 conference was also dedicated to both memory and storage. Topics included DRAM, DNA storage, CXL, AI and machine learning, data centers, 3D flash and NVMe. IBM, Intel, Kioxia, SNIA and Western Digital were among the speakers’ organizations.

SNIA Developer Conference, Sept. 16-18, Santa Clara, Calif.

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Developer Conference will return under a slightly different name. In 2023, the SNIA Storage Developer Conference featured topic areas such as computational storage, DNA data storage, emerging technologies, storage architecture and sustainability.

But wait, there’s more
