Hosted by the Karratha Stars Foundation, more than 300 locals donned their running shoes and active wear for the 3km run around Karratha Leisureplex Oval. “Every year, IMF put out an International Women’s Day event and Stars jump on board because we’re all about inspiring First Nations women,” Karratha Stars Foundation program manager Jodi Bampton said. “International Women’s Day is a time to recognise the achievements of women across the world — past, present and future. “It’s a day to reflect on progress, celebrate resilience and continue pushing for a more equal and inclusive society.” This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action”, calls for swift and decisive steps toward achieving gender equality. According to the World Economic Forum, at the current rate it will take until 2158 — five generations from now — to reach full gender parity.
