After speaking with Ruanga, it's highly recommended to stick around and explore the Abandoned Mine. You can find some nice rewards around the location, including a

that's used to start or progress the Forged of Star-Stuff side quest. This quest can earn you one of the best weapons in Avowed, so it's worth picking up the Fragment of Starmetal here to ensure you don't have to come back and scale the Abandoned Mine again.





Aside from that, though, the only time you'll have to come back to the Abandoned Mine is to potentially speak with Ruanga again during the One Last Drink quest. If you do have to come back, at least you know the way to get there.
