Developed by From Software, Elden Ring iterates on the “Soulsborne” action-RPG formula the studio codified back in 2009 with ******’s Souls, but expands beyond the cramped dungeons and gloomy castles of ******’s and Dark Souls, and into a vast open world packed with things to explore (including plenty of dungeons and castles, to be clear).

The only time Elden Ring has been cheaper was when it dropped to $35 during last year’s ****** Friday sales, but this $40 is still an excellent opportunity to pick up the game on console before the giant Shadow of the Erdtree expansion launches on June 21, 2024 with a swathe of new content to explore.

While Shadow of the Erdtree is not a standalone expansion, it’s big enough that publisher Bandai Namco is offering a Shadow of the Erdtree Deluxe edition with a collectible statue of the DLC’s main boss, Messimer the Impaler. While the DLC is normally $40, PC players can grab it for just $35 at Fanatical.
