Helldivers 2 Could Severely Benefit From Utilizing a Core Mechanic From Monster Hunter Wilds

Without a doubt, Arrowhead Game Studios does a great job at designing the maps for Helldivers 2. Most of the things on the game’s maps are destructible, however, there is room for improvement. The last main Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Rise, featured environmental traps, so Capcom basically created the environment in such a way that players can use it to take out the creatures.

Helldivers 2 needs to replicate this mechanic, as the game has a lot of potential. Using massive boulders on rocky planets to take out enemies would make the combat experience much more exciting. Capcom would certainly expand on this mechanic in the upcoming Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Wilds.

Helldivers 2 needs to let players interact with the environment to get kills

Nowadays, almost every video game lets players interact with the environment and even use it to take down enemies. Some games explicitly allow players to utilise the environment to kill enemies, Monster Hunter Rise is one such example. The game highlights the environmental traps on the map, allowing players to inflict a lot of damage on the monsters easily once they lure them into these traps.

One such game that would thrive with this mechanic is Helldivers 2 because there are a lot of opportunities all over the map in the game. For example, players can find boulders or holes on different maps, which players could use to their advantage.

Interacting with the environment makes video games much more immersive and engaging. The upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds will certainly set new standards for this mechanic, so gamers should expect to see this in other video games soon. Helldivers 2 has destructible environments, but Arrowhead needs to introduce environmental traps that players can set up to take down heavy units.

The Finals is another great example of how players could alter the environment to use it to their advantage. Arrowhead recently added a new map that is perfect for replicating what Embark Studios did while developing maps for The Finals.

As a part of the Omens of Tyranny update, Arrowhead Game Studios added urban environments to the game, allowing players to fight in city-like settings. The new maps were certainly exciting, but the studio could add a few more things to make these new maps much more immersive.

Firstly, it needs to have enterable buildings that can be destroyed. This would allow players to find a new angle to take out the enemies, but it would come with the risk of the entire building getting destroyed. Secondly, since the setting is city-like, it must have different stores which players could loot for stims or even ammo. Lastly, since it’s a Super Earth colony, it needs to have some underground bunkers or tunnels that players can use to seek shelter or navigate around the map.
