The baby news comes after Ms Higgins was given a concerning update by healthcare professionals, saying that the baby “may be incompatible with life outside of the womb”.

“A fortnight ago, David Sharaz and I had the scare of our lives after the midwife told us halfway through my second trimester my blood test had raised red flags,” she wrote in a post to

“Our baby had a high probability of a genetic disorder — which wouldn’t have mattered to us — but scarily could mean he may be incompatible with life outside of the womb.”

However, the big scare turned to joy when doctors eventually gave the couple the all-clear.

“After an amniocentesis and a seemingly never-ending wait our prayers were answered. Our little guy is perfectly fine and healthy,” Ms Higgins wrote.
