Dog owners and their pooches can register at the picnic shelter before hitting the trail. Participants are encouraged to dressed like their pets. Door prizes will be given away. Y director will take a pie in the face DOVER − The Tuscarawas County YMCA will hold its second pie in the face fundraiser this Monday through Saturday. Participants can vote for their favorite Y director by placing a donation in their collection jug at the Member Service Center throughout the week. The director whose jug has the most money at the end of the week will receive a pie in the face on Pi Day, March 14. The money will go to the annual campaign, providing direct financial assistance to Tuscarawas County youth and families who would otherwise be unable to afford YMCA memberships, swim lessons, preschool, afterschool, day camp, youth sports, team participation, and more. Volunteers needed for Run for Home DOVER − The Run for Home Road Runners Club is looking for volunteers to help with the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Run for Home, April 5-6, which includes events ranging from a free kids’ run to a half marathon. The proceeds will help finance the construction of a new home in Dennison through Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio. The schedule on Saturday includes a one-mile fun run/walk, 5K race, and 10K race. Additional activities include a kids’ run, face painting and photo booth. On Sunday, the half marathon and team relay will wind its way from Tuscora Park to Dover City and back to the finish line inside Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium. A $200 cash prize will go to the fastest male and female runners who break the course records. Steam Museum announces personnel changes SUGARCREEK − The Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum has made personnel changes within the Jerry & Laura Jacobson Foundation. Bill Strawn and Barry Fogle have retired from their positions on the board of directors. Pete Poremba stepped down from his position as executive director in January and assumed the role of board chairman, which was vacated by Strawn’s retirement. Assistant Director Nathan Vance has become executive director and now manages the day-to-day operations of the foundation. Denny Varian joins the board as a new member, filling the seat left open by Fogle’s retirement. Varian retires from his current position as facility manager at the Roundhouse to be eligible for his new role as a board member. Comedy show in Sugarcreek SUGARCREEK − Comedian Yakov Smirnoff will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ohio Star Theater. Smirnoff has his own theater in Branson, Missouri, and travels the world during standup comedy.
