Three people — including a teenager — have been airlifted to hospital after a two-car rollover on a remote stretch of road in the Great Southern.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports two cars had crashed and flipped onto their roofs along Albany Highway, near Rockwell Road, in Cranbrook around midday on Saturday.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson confirmed two people had to be rescued after becoming trapped in the wreckage.

Two passengers in the same car — a 15-year-old teen and a man in his 50s — were airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital via the RAC rescue helicopter.

A second chopper took an 80-year-old woman, a passenger in the same car, to Albany Health Campus with serious injuries, while the male driver, 80, was rushed to Mount Barker Hospital via St John WA ambulance.

The occupants of the other vehicle — a 26-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man — were uninjured.

Albany Highway between Tambellup West Road and Northam Cranbrook Road was closed, with drivers advised to seek an alternate route.

Police inquiries are ongoing as officers work to determine the circumstances surrounding the ******.
